Obama is not the Antichrist!

Rejoice, all ye believers, for Obama is not the Antichrist!

That is the proclamation Tim LaHaye and Jerry Jenkins, authors of the Left Behind series, have rendered unto us. Christian Newswire:

I’ve gotten a lot of questions the last few weeks asking if Obama is the antichrist,” says novelist Jenkins. “I tell everyone that I don’t think the antichrist will come out of politics, especially American politics.”

“I can see by the language he uses why people think he could be the antichrist,” adds LaHaye, “but from my reading of scripture, he doesn’t meet the criteria. There is no indication in the Bible that the antichrist will be an American.”

Perhaps, to play Captain Obvious for a moment, that’s because there was no word in ancient Greek for “America”.

The New York Times has conducted a poll (hat tip: Democracy in America) on race in America. Its results? According to the accompanying article,

Americans’ perceptions of the fall presidential election between Mr. Obama, Democrat of Illinois, and Senator John McCain, Republican of Arizona, also underlined the racial discord that the poll found. More than 80 percent of black voters said they had a favorable opinion of Mr. Obama; about 30 percent of white voters said they had a favorable opinion of him.

Take a close look at the graphic, though: More »

Due to a recent lack of donations, I’ve thrown up two banner ads on the site. One of them is ours, which helps to support us, and the other is Link’s, to help support both us and D-Pad. Now, I was set on thinking this was a pretty good idea… you know, make some money and stuff without worrying of begging people for it and looking like a jerk, but I soon learned otherwise…

Berlusconi endorses McCain

The Italian prime minister, Silvio Berlusconi, aged 71 years 8 months, has endorsed John McCain, aged 71 years 9 months. “I suppose I could express my own personal preference for one of the candidates, the Republican candidate,” Berlusconi said. “And this is for a very selfish reason, and that is that I would no longer be the oldest person at the upcoming G-8 because McCain is a month older than me.”

It’s amazing that the Italians elect such morons.

Is it any surprise that John McCain is not alone among politicians? He, like the rest of them, changes his positions on issues when it suits political expediency:

Is Barack Obama another Adlai Stevenson?

May 5th, 2008 | No Comments | Posted in 2008 US Elections, News

Important question, that. History News Network has an article by Jean Baker, professor in history at Goucher, on that topic, detailing the similarities between the presidential nomination candidate and the failed presidential candidate of 1952 and where, exactly, they end.

As was the case with Stevenson, Obama’s highly calibrated public style has led to charges of elitism and an inability to attract the blue-collar vote–another surface similarity with the professorial Adlai Stevenson, whose speeches were full of references to the Bible and Greek mythology. Still it’s hard to make this comparison work: Stevenson’s elitism was not just social, but rested on an inherited family legacy as the grandson of an admired Illinois congressman and vice-president with the same name. “I have a bad case of inherited politics,” he confessed, as he became a wealthy patrician who rode to the hounds in Lake Forest on Saturday afternoons.

The question is, will history repeat itself this time?

He appeared to read the “top ten surprising facts about Barack Obama”:

6. Earlier today I bowled a 39.
5. I have canceled all my appearances the day the “Sex and The City” movie opens.
4. It’s the birth place of Fred Astaire. (Sorry, that’s a surprising fun fact about Omaha.)
3. We are tirelessly working to get the endorsement of Kentucky Derby favorite Colonel John.
2. This has nothing to do with the Top Ten, but what the heck is up with Paula Abdul?
1. I have not slept since October.
