Well here’s something to freak you out…

A small archive of the RIAA’s quest to track down and sue people who have been illegally downloading songs off the internet. Reading some instantly made me drop my current download and delete the partly-finished files. I don’t feel like having a $360,000 lawsuit, really. I can buy a house down south maybe and a few computers and french horns. =]
The RIAA has so far succeeded in suing over 20,000 people who have illegally downloaded music over the internet so far, however that’s just the amount of finished cases, really. They continue to file loads of new lawsuits daily and if you’re caught you haven’t much of any defense. Hiring a lawyer isn’t much help when you have the torrent software and the files on your computer.
I don’t really know how they find out who did what… the only idea I have is when they shut down a torrent search-engine and see if there are any logs left on it, then trace down the IP’s and find out who did what and how badly they’re going to get smacked around.
Personally I’ve already been cutting down on the amount of pirated music I have on my computer. I have a job now so I’m planning to set aside some extra money and purchase legal ownership of the songs I currently have that aren’t legal already and get rid of the pirated stuffs. Hopefully if they ever find any records of me they’ll be forgiving… right? I think I’m gonna just go outside…
…oh wait, It’s 2A.M. >_>;;

Hmmm… I wonder if the RIAA protects video game music?

I don’t think they care as much about video game music being if you have the game you can just rip the soundtrack yourself anyway but… shrug.

Exactly what I’m thinking, but I don’t own all the games I have the sound track for >_>. I own at least half of them though, so I should be alright for the most part. A lot of the shit is also from games where there’d be no way in hell to get music from the game because it’s so old.
Also, would deleting any infringing songs work as well, cause they’ve been deleted for a good part of a year now, and a few just recently. It’d probably be a better idea to ask an expert though :P, but… I don’t know any <_<.
I suppose we can only hope for the best.
