Microsoft Re-Releases Security Fix
Microsoft has re-issued a security patch that was released earlier this month for it was quite… innefective…
Microsoft posted an update to their MS08—030 bulletin, regarding a remote code execution vulnerability in both XP and Vista, deemed a ‘critical’ security risk.
So the original version of the patch they released back on June 10th fixed the issue with Vista, but still left XP vulnerable. Windows 2000 and Windows Server on the other hand are not subject to either of the bulletins.
“As soon as we learned of that possibility, we mobilized our Software Security Incident Response Process (SSIRP) to investigate the issue,” said Microsoft security and response communications lead Christopher Budd.
The updated patch can be obtained automatically via Windows / Microsoft update, as well as it can be manually downloaded from the Microsoft Download center.
