Diablo III has Been Confirmed!

June 29th, 2008 | 1 Comment | Posted in Entertainment

…Yesterday! That is. Rumors and pleas for a third installment in the Diablo series have been in circulation for years now, and Blizzard looks not to let their fans down, by finally developing Diablo III!

I’m sure that I don’t speak for myself when I say that I’m extremely happy and excited, being Diablo is the only online RPG that I actually like and don’t get bored with in three seconds. Gamespot has a twenty-minute narrated demonstration of the game up which is filled with pure awesomeness. The modern graphics, as well as the new environmental effects look absolutely stunning.

Blizzard’s not quite set on an actual release date at this time, but they’ll hopefully be giving plenty of information on classes and the story to keep us all sane as we finally come to the end of this long wait.

Before I go to sleep finally (I mean, It’s 2:40AM here right now…) I’ll just post some quick news to supplement for the lack of it here lately.

An Australian man has put his “entire life” up for sale on eBay. Ian Usher is offering his house, car, motorbike, jetski, and all his other goodies he has via the internet’s largest auction site. The winner of the auction will even get introductions to Usher’s friends and family, as well as a two-week trial at his current job as a carpet store assistant.

It’s quick, simple, cheap, and you can do it too! I mean, no sense in worrying about breaking something if it’s already broken, right?

Inane Facebook groups

June 26th, 2008 | No Comments | Posted in Blog

A comment I made earlier today on the wall of the Facebook group “15,000,000 for lower gas prices”, which contains 1,684,698 members at this point (only off the mark by a few million):

Of course all gas consumers want lower prices. Everyone who buys gas would like it to cost $0. And of course all gas sellers want higher prices. Everyone who sells gas would like it to cost $1,000,000 per gallon.

The whole point of a market is to find the price in between where supply and demand are roughly equal. By saying that the market price is the wrong one, you’re just rehashing the old and dead concept of the just price. Just saying “we want lower gas prices” means nothing; it’s changes in supply and demand that count.

Rather than joining this group and complaining about gas prices, I’d recommend that you help reduce demand by conserving energy and driving less, and encouraging others to do the same; and help increase supply, by writing to your representative/MP and encouraging him/her to back measures to remove taxes and environmental measures that discourage and reduce drilling and refining. Everyone wants lower gas prices, but it won’t happen just by complaining.

George Carlin, RIP

The great comedian passed away Sunday at the age of 71. May he rest in peace. In lieu of a tribute, I will merely point the reader to Jerry Seinfeld’s well-written, funny and meaningful elegy.

I couldn’t even count the number of times I’ve been standing around with some comedians and someone talks about some idea for a joke and another comedian would say, “Carlin does it.” I’ve heard it my whole career: “Carlin does it,” “Carlin already did it,” “Carlin did it eight years ago.”

And he didn’t just “do” it. He worked over an idea like a diamond cutter with facets and angles and refractions of light. He made you sorry you ever thought you wanted to be a comedian. He was like a train hobo with a chicken bone. When he was done there was nothing left for anybody.

After you’re done reading that, I’ll leave you with this:

For those of you living with your heads attached to your bodies and not your computer screens (hopefully all of you) today is the Seventeenth Anniversary of Sonic The Hedgehog! But not just that, today we also celebrate the twelfth anniversary of the Nintendo 64, or should I say, NINTENDOOO SIXXTTYYYY FOURRRRRRRRRR!!!!

Yep, you predicted this one just right:

Oh bless you, Nintendo, for supplying us with the material to create what is probably the world’s most well-known video.

I’d advise signging up for updates; it should be everyone’s top concern that their home planet still exists.

goog-411-now-in-canada

Now Canadians have the right to know where the closest Pizza Parlour is and order for delivery as well, because Goog-411 is now available in Canada! For those of you who’ve never heard of Goog-411 (1-800-GOOG-411) it’s a Google service for your telephone, where-as you dial the number, say your location and what you’re looking for. Then it’ll return a list of businesses that matched your criteria and they’ll forward you via phone to the business you want.

So now you’ll never go hungry, even if you’re in Canada!
